How do I pick the “PMI answer” in situational questions?
Apply the consistent hierarchy: gather information / assess impact FIRST; prefer the root cause over the symptom; collaborate directly before escalating; follow the defined process (change control, escalation paths) over heroics; and serve the team rather than command it. When two answers both seem right, the one earlier in that chain usually wins.
How much math is on the PMP?
Less than its reputation — a modest number of earned-value, critical-path, and communication-channel computations. But they are free points if the formulas are automatic: CPI = EV/AC, SPI = EV/PV, EAC = BAC/CPI (typical case), float from the forward/backward pass, channels = n(n−1)/2. Drill them until they’re reflex and bank the points.
Do I need to know agile for the PMP?
Yes — about half the exam assumes agile or hybrid contexts: Scrum roles and events, backlog refinement, velocity, servant leadership, and when to choose which approach. If your background is purely predictive, weight your practice toward the agile scenarios here.
