Word Swoop is a synonym and antonym game played one card at a time. Each card shows a word and two choices, under a banner that says what to look for: SAME MEANING, or OPPOSITE. Tap the choice that fits and the next card swoops in — a deck is twenty cards, and one tap decides each one.
Every card is checked before it is dealt so that exactly one choice fits the banner. The wrong choice is picked to teach something: an unrelated word early on, then the word’s own opposite on a SAME MEANING card, a near miss from the same area of meaning, and on an OPPOSITE card the word that means the same — the trap the banner exists to catch. A miss costs a few seconds and shows the right word, and a deck passes with sixteen of its twenty cards right.
There are five tiers, from everyday words through familiar, stretch and advanced to rare ones, and a Daily deck that everyone plays on the same day. Endless deals cards until your first miss. The first three tiers are free with unlimited fresh decks; the top two are part of Keentune Pro.
It runs in a browser and in the Keentune app on iOS and Android, and it is walled off from everything the trainer measures — playing it never moves your skill ratings, your practice streak or your weekly league rank. You earn XP toward your overall Level for clearing a level the first time and for each day’s daily — up to 150 a day across all games.
How to play Word Swoop
Twenty cards, one word each: pick which of its two choices is its mate.
1. The banner names the match for each card: SAME MEANING, or — from the second tier — OPPOSITE. Read it every card; it can change from one card to the next.
2. Tap the word you choose (on a keyboard: 1 or ↑ for the top word, 2 or ↓ for the bottom). There is no second guess on a card.
3. Right, and the next card swoops in. Wrong, and the right word is shown for a moment and a few seconds are added.
4. Sixteen of the twenty right passes the level. The clock counts up and nothing runs out; your time decides gold, silver or bronze, and bronze opens the next level.
5. Endless is the other way to play: cards until your first miss, from the tiers you have opened.
Tips for Word Swoop
Read the banner before you read the choices — on an OPPOSITE card, a word that means the same is the trap.
On a SAME MEANING card, the wrong choice can be the target’s opposite — the same idea, and still wrong.
Say the target’s plainest meaning to yourself first, then look for the choice that says the same thing.
