Emergency medical care at the EMT level — the medical half of the NREMT cognitive exam. Patient assessment (scene size-up, primary survey, SAMPLE/OPQRST), airway and oxygenation, respiratory and cardiac emergencies (including CPR/AED per current guidelines), stroke and diabetic emergencies, anaphylaxis and the medications an EMT can give or assist with, toxicology, behavioral emergencies, and obstetrics. Every scenario asks the question the street asks: what do you do FIRST, what does this finding mean, which patient is sickest. Explanations teach the physiology, name the tempting-but-wrong move, and end with a rule you keep under pressure.
